Our team continued their excellent streak as we ran down portsmouth 3-1 at ashburton grove last nite.
Goals coming from adebayor (penalty), a quick-turn goal by fabulous fabregas and a 50sen rosicky goal yg masuk tengah2 kaki glen johnson & defeated david james.
pompey's only goal comin from kanu, after he'd back heeled the ball into the net, after a fine crossfrom john utaka (serius nasib giler goal ni..). All that after senderos was sent off for blocking kanu's previous effort on goal. Anyway, i think the red card was harsh. Of course he man-handled kanu a bit but Senderos was not the last defender in line. Toure was. But i guess the ref assumed the other way and gave him a straight red card.
Nevertheless, it was an excellent display from the team. Watching the team tearing up pompey's defense, i cant help but seeing the full offensive gunners during the invincible era with much younger faces. They're overflowing with confidence and it shows. Although we were down to 10 men, but we kept giving them a hard time with constant flow of attacking football.
fabregas & rosicky was amazing last nite. passes were accurate, shots were on target, midfielders running the show, what more can u ask? anyhow my full praise goes to Flamini for his outstanding performance. he'd be up running the flanks, good passes, good long shot tries, then he's back down defending, i mean.. he's everywhere and whereever he was on the pitch, his impact was phenomenal ! i vote him as my man-of-the-match altho the title went out to fabregas in the end. how could we ever have the slightest thought of letting him go before the season starts.. totally madness .. !!
Credits to gilberto coz he played very well at centre back. altho nampak ala ala shaky skit bila senderos keluar, but then the back stabilize quick. kanu's goal was lucky of course, n i believe even lehmann couldnt save that. Abou diaby made a commanding presence when he was sub in. For the first time, i felt confidence with his play.. altho not to the standards of vieira yet.
Overall, an excellent performance by gunners. The unity of the team clearly shows. Everyone felt responsible to the team. Fabregas had commented on the team's 'unity' as well by saying:
'Once again we have shown this team is going up, it has unity and defensively we are much much better and we know we can score goals.
'The most important thing is we have unity and we are playing well as a team.'
